Local History
The Inn itself is a historical attraction. Built around 1910 to serve travelers and salesmen visiting Nickelsville, the Inn also served a rooming house where rural area school children who lived far away from town could stay for 25 cents a week while attending school in Nickelsville.
Only two miles away is the historic Kilgore Fort House, built in 1786 by Robert Kilgore. Visitors can head slightly further up the crooked path to the Bush Mill which was built in 1896 and is the only operational over-throw water powered gristmill in the region. The nearby Keith Memorial Park features a playground, picnic areas, and hiking opportunities, and a large cabin suitable for gatherings up to 200 people. |
